Gooseberries

DSCN0376 (copy)

From her grandmother’s basket

she took three of them

in her tiny hands-fresh,

pale green gooseberries.

Like marbles they were

smooth and round,

and cool at touch.

She loved to hold the fruits

in her hands than their taste

which was sour

first, sweet later.
